ATELIER ALEXANDER SUTULOV WORKSHOPS:
A CONCEPT OF MOBILITY FOR BETTER ACCESSIBILITY

When the idea came through of a "floating workshop," our view at the moment (1994) was the emphasis on mobility for better accessibility. In this respect, our collaborators' freedom is essential to achieve the necessary tasks. Not only to define a final form or concept but also to go with the flow of a continuum production. In sum, conservation of said trajectory, like the archival conservancy of original drawings, is essential curatorial labor.

Our relationship with our customers prevails in the form of continuity. When iconographic themes are sequential, or stage work, more intriguing and seductive to the observer is the experience of a process. The notion of a suite or series leads to a hands-on approach where empathy results as a path of discovery and self-awareness. We encourage and challenge the whole scope of works on paper as a more intimate relationship with aesthetical values. Our online service enhances bringing each day closer to the described experience.

Digital Painting Process

Understanding printmaking as one of the oldest human manifestations, like the imprint of a hand on a cavern wall, we have come a long way in the process. Undoubtedly, our recent Industrial Revolution had a dramatic turning point with the invention of photography and lithographic offset printing. Around the corner, with the 20th-century introduction of digital media, the quantum leap became even more remarkable. The translation or use of the first-generation image to a second-generation image would carry along a shift of dramatic proportions. The above scheme is a simplified but generic description of how the inner soul of digital painting operates with the monumental trade-off in the world of continuous tone printmaking.
